Despite Ten Hits Lady Gladiators Loses To Einstein
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Einstein came out on top against Lady Gladiators, 18-8.
Lady Gladiators lost despite out-hitting Einstein ten to seven.
Lady Gladiators took an early lead in the first inning when Jeniffer Guandique doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Einstein took the lead for good with seven runs in the second inning. In the second an error scored one run for Einstein and Guandique induced C Richardson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but two runs scored.
Lady Gladiators put up four runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by Lady Gladiators was led by Guandique, Sarah Irwin, Kenia Hernandez, and Kelli Taney, all driving in runs in the frame.
Einstein scored nine runs in the fifth inning. Einstein’s big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by A Menesis and C Vecchio, a triple by A Levone, a single by A Farello, a groundout by E Adhanom, and a double by M McDonnell.
Farello led things off on the rubber for Einstein. She allowed ten hits and eight runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Guandique started the game for Lady Gladiators. She allowed two hits and nine runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Andrea Vargas threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Lady Gladiators racked up ten hits in the game. Vargas, Irwin, and Libby Isaacson each collected multiple hits for Lady Gladiators. Vargas led Lady Gladiators with three hits in three at bats.
Einstein totaled seven hits. Farello and Levone all managed multiple hits for Einstein.
