Argueta Collects Four Hits As Lady Gladiators Defeats Wheaton
Thania Argueta had a busy day at the plate on Tuesday, smacking four hits in her final game, in Lady Gladiators’s 23-5 victory over Wheaton. Argueta singled in the first, singled in the first, singled in the third, and singled in the fourth.
Wheaton scored three runs in the third inning, but Lady Gladiators still managed to pull out the victory. The Wheaton offensive was led by M Ortiz and B Meku, who all drove in runs.
Lady Gladiators got on the board in the first inning when Libby Isaacson drew a walk, scoring one run.
Lady Gladiators notched eight runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by walks by Aniya Sebens and Sarah Irwin, a triple by Kelli Taney, a walk by Jeniffer Guandique, and a double by Sam Miranda.
Guandique was the winning pitcher for Lady Gladiators. She went four and a third innings, allowing five runs on three hits and striking out three. Andrea Vargas threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Ortiz was in the circle for Wheaton. She surrendered 20 runs on ten hits over four innings, striking out three.
Lady Gladiators collected ten hits. Argueta and Kenia Hernandez each managed multiple hits for Lady Gladiators. Argueta went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Lady Gladiators in hits. Lady Gladiators tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hernandez led the way with two.
