The boys track team came in looking to clock fast times at this weekend’s 43rd annual Woodward Relays in hopes of qualifying for post season competitions, but the weather had other plans. Nonetheless, the boys showed out once again scoring 20 points at the 35+ team meet.
The 1600m sprint medley relay (Aaron W, Yannick S, Jamarcus P, Andree’ D) put together a strong performance to take second place overall. They clocked the fastest time of the day and third fastest time by a Maryland school this year running 3:42.56. Look to hear more about that relay later on this season.
The boys 4×4 relay (Aaron W, Jamarcus P, Eldon P, Brandon D) also had a strong showing by winning the heat and posting the top time by a Montgomery County school to take 7th overall.
In the final event of the day, Senior Andree’ Di-Reumante blew away the competition in one of his signature races, 2000m steeplechase. He took over the race two laps in and never looked back, winning by over ten seconds and just missing the meet record. His time of 6:26.61 ranks as the US #21 time this year. He’s content with his performance and knows that with better conditions, he can run even faster.
Solid performances in bad weather is a sign of big things to come. The boys close out the divisional competition and look to go undefeated this Tuesday at Kennedy.
